IS PROJECTS: MAKE YOUR OWN LEATHER TRAVEL JOURNAL
September 4th at 11:00 am
In this workshop, each student will learn the basic principles of bookbinding while making a completely customized and unique soft cover leather travel journal. We will start by cutting raw leather to make the perfect cover. Then we will learn how to prepare the paper and sew it to the leather cover to make a long-lasting, sturdy travel journal. FLAMINGO GARDENS: BIG BUGS FINAL WEEKEND
Through September 6th
Join Flamingo Gardens for the Final Weekend of David Rogers’ Big Bugs exhibit of giant insect sculptures. Visitors of all ages will enjoy 10 larger-than-life sculptures created by artist David Rogers including a 10' tall Daddy Long Legs and a 17' long Praying Mantis! Inside the Gallery you will discover some of the fascinating insects of South Florida and the Everglades, including live specimens and educational interactives! Explore the animal kingdom at the Big Five Safari exhibition and have fun tracking the African animals through the museum with our new scavenger hunt. The Big Five are the game animals which hunters claimed were the most difficult to hunt on foot -the lion, the leopard, the elephant, the rhinoceros, and the African buffalo. More event details here.
