HISTORYMIAMI MUSEUM: WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

May 14th at 6:00 pm

Learn about painting fruits and vegetables from your garden or market using basic watercolor techniques. Donna will paint brightly colored peppers and you can follow along with her as she paints. The skills you learn in this short class can be used to paint any of your favorite fruits and vegetables More event details here.

SANDRELL RIVERS THEATER: CINDERELLA, A FRACTURED FAIRY TALE

May 15th at 11:00 am

Take the classic story of Cinderella, mix in elements of comedy, slapstick, music, acrobatics and magic, and you've got a new version of an old story that leaves kids (and adults) begging for more! The show is great for primary grades, and older students that appreciate the flippant comic style of this “Fractured Fairy Tale”. The fun is put to good use in the classroom since Sunshine Standards for literature, theatre and reading are included in FTF's teacher guidelines. More event details here.

MIAMI BEACH URBAN STUDIOS: ZEN AND THE ART OF COMING OUT IN SONG

May 17th at 7:00 pm

Join The Betsy Hotel and Miami Beach Urban Studios for a live-streamed concert and virtual artist meet & greet. FGO operatic tenor Michael Miller has curated a musical event that he describes as ‘A man’s accepting of himself through musical theater and song’. This one hour event Includes works by Meredith Wilson, Leonard Bernstein, Evan Mack, George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, and more. More event details here.

HISTORY FORT LAUDERDALE: "BEYOND THE SHIMMERING WATERS: EVERGLADES + IMMOKALEE PHOTOGRAPHY"

Through May 28th

 This exhibition features a series of images highlighting Miccosukee Grandmother and Everglades conservationist Betty Osceola, Panther Clan, and her work promoting respect and awareness for our planet by organizing Indigenous prayer walks through the Everglades. It also highlights a collection of portraits of women who work or live in Immokalee and whose strength and perseverance are admirable and worthy. More event details here.
