The nation’s oldest and largest literary gathering, Miami Book Fair, presented by Miami Dade College (MDC), will celebrate its 33nd edition this year. The Book Fair will take place Nov. 13 – 20, 2016, at MDC’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.
The 2016 Miami Book Fair will treat book lovers to eight days of cultural and educational activities, including the beloved Evenings With… series (including Trevor Noah, James Carville, Alan Cumming, Maureen Dowd, Tavis Smiley, Geraldine Brooks, Jeffrey Toobin), the IberoAmerican Authors and ReadCaribbean, hands-on, storytelling & performances for children at Children’s Alley, back-to-back scheduling of music, dancing and fun activities @ The Porch, and cooking demos and panels for food enthusiasts. And for the teens there’s a lineup of red hot authors in fantasy, action, horror, and graphic novels, including Victoria Aveyard, Leigh Burdugo, Ryan Graudin and Margaret Stohl, among many others. Fairgoers will also enjoy more than 200 exhibitors from around the country selling books in a festive atmosphere, in addition to hundreds of authors reading and discussing new books during the weekend Street Fair, Nov. 18-20.
Among the 600 authors confirmed to attend the 33rd edition of Miami Book Fair are Bernie Sanders, Dave Barry, Tommy Hilfiger, Jane Alexander, The Property Brothers, Robert Canessa, Art Spiegelman, Richard Blanco, T.C. Boyle, Robert Olen Butler, James Tahhan, Margaret Stohl, Arva Moore Parks, Jennine Capo Crucet, Ana Castillo, Richard Cohen, Chinaka Hodge, Melissa de la Cruz, Michele Oka Doner, Rita Dove, Jennifer Haigh, Jane Hamilton, Adam Haslett, Brooke Hauser, Aleksander Hemon, Eileen Myles, Ha Jin, Ben Katchor, Padma Lakshmi, Chigozie Obioma, Robert Pinsky, Larry Olmsted, Jon Scieszka, Nancy Silverton, Maria Semple, David Trueba, Colson Whitehead, Gene Yang, Amor Towles, Kate Bornstein, and Cyd Zeigler.
Make sure to get a seat at the sold-out readings by joining the Fair as a Friend of the Fair. As a friend of the Fair, tickets are available before the general audience, and at the presentations. Friends do not stand in line and there is always a reserved seat.
