The 2nd Annual Miami International Ballet Competition is slated for January 23-27
Founding Artistic Directors and renowned choreographers and ballet masters Vladimir Issaev and Yanis Pikieris are back again for the 2nd Annual Miami International Ballet Competition, open to dancers ages 9 to 25. Dancers are classified in 4 different age divisions competing in different categories such as Pas de Deux, Ensemble or as Individual Competitors.
This international contest aims to unite young dancers from around the world within a positive, competitive atmosphere, enable them to gain confidence, develop friendships and connections, and become the chief protagonists in the development of their own futures. The 2018 competition attracted more than 100 aspiring young dancers from different cities in the US and countries such as China, Peru, and Japan, who came together to show the best of their abilities aiming for cash awards, medals, scholarships and opportunities to join ballet companies or major ballet schools to continue their professional training.
The Founding Directors, Issaev and Pikieris, have both enjoyed very successful international careers as dancers, choreographers, and artistic directors, and share enormous experience in the development of young ballet artists. As long-time important figures of Miami’s dance community, they have agreed that our city’s multicultural and international flavor make it an ideal destination for a world-class ballet competition.
The jury is comprised of internationally renowned ballet masters and directors, whose knowledge and expertise will aid in making this competition a world-class event. Competing young artists will also have the opportunity to participate in a two-day workshop, receiving advice and master ballet classes taught by a panel of international guest teachers.
The Competition will take place at
The Julius Littman Theater
at the North Miami Beach City Hall
17011 NE 19 Ave.
North Miami Beach, FL 33162
