NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF SUCCESS
In commemoration of its 30th Anniversary, New World School of the Arts, located in the heart of downtown Miami, will be hosting more than a dozen concerts and exhibitions. Each will feature distinguished alumni from the high school and the college programs, during the school’s 2016-2017 season. The events, which include alumni work from New World School of the Arts’ Dance, Music, Theater and Visual Arts divisions, will highlight new and existing work, and will allow alumni to come together in celebration of the school’s accomplishments.
New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature, as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts. It is an educational partnership between Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College, and the University of Florida. “The focus of the 30th Anniversary relates to our alumni, who are really the face of what we do. Our mission is to provide the best arts education training for our young budding artists,” says Dr. Jeffrey Hodgson, Provost of New World School of the Arts.
A call to action has been sent nationally to every high school and college alum that has roamed the halls of New World School of the Arts since its inception in 1986, to join in this very special and well-anticipated series of events. Not only will they have the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments and artistic talent, they will also have the chance to work with faculty and alongside current students of New World School of the Arts.
As excitement builds, New World invites the public to share in the celebration by attending gallery openings, performing arts shows, classroom visits to meet students and faculty, and experience all that is New World School of the Arts. The festivities mark the implementation of the next phase of growth in this unique institution’s future.
