Workshop: The Art of the Mural: From Sketch to Wall
About This Event
Paint a mural in the community on the A&H campus and learn the practice of large-scale public art!
Ever wondered how small drawings become large-scale public art? This hands-on class focuses strictly on the physical execution of a mural. During the 4-day workshop, students will be painting an actual wall on the Art and History Museums Maitland Campus. Using a pre-selected design, you will learn about site prep, best practices for readying your wall, projector setup, grid mapping, precise outlining, and large-scale paint application. Perfect for studio artists to build real-world mural skills. This course is designed to introduce you to the practice of large-scale public art. Participants should have basic experience with traditional painting and drawing. Please keep in mind this is a four-day workshop, weather permitting, happening on a Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM – 4 PM. In the end, this experience allows you to add your name to the site and to your portfolio.
