Vilomah: Against the Natural Order

October 17 - January 3, 11 AM
A&H Maitland Art Center, Maitland

About This Event

Vilomah is an exhibition featuring the work of Soudre Dadras, an artist, curator, and educator living and working in Atlanta, Georgia.

Soude Dadras is an Iranian American artist, curator, and art educator, currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Art Education at the University of Georgia. She lives in Marietta, Georgia, with her husband Reza and their son, Yaar John.

In her solo exhibition, Vilomah: Against the Natural Order, Dadras investigates the traumatic sociocultural experiences she encountered firsthand in Iran, as well the processes and rituals of healing which enabled her to turn her own pain into positivity.

Through an intricate blend of traditional handwork, found objects, abandoned textiles, and video installation, Dadras guides visitors through her deeply personal journey of loss and healing, offering glimpses into her narrative as a global citizen. Vilomah now stands not only as

a personal exploration of loss, but also as a collective memorial space of mourning, witnessing, and radical tenderness.

This multisensory experience serves as a testament to the universal themes of grief, resilience, and hope, inviting audiences to reflect on their own journeys amidst a world shaped by ongoing trauma and transformation.
