Born in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, in 2004, Mateusz Dubiel is regarded as one of the most promising young Polish pianists of his generation, and brings to Miami Beach a program at the heart of the Romantic repertoire.

Program

First part: Robert Schumann, Kreisleriana, Op. 16.

Second part: Frédéric Chopin, Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49 · Four Mazurkas, Op. 41 · Scherzo in E major, Op. 54.

The artist

Dubiel won First Prize at the 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, earning direct admission to the 19th International Chopin Competition, and has taken top prizes in Lugano, Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz. He studies at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków and has performed at Warsaw's Royal Castle, Żelazowa Wola and across Europe, Japan and the United States.

The Discovery Series, the festival's crown jewel, presents rising international pianists in the intimate setting of The Wolfsonian–FIU on Miami Beach's Washington Avenue.
