10 Best Cultural Things to do in Palm Beach this 2022 / 23 Season

COVID has had an impact on all industries, but none so more than the arts. It was far more than the inability to gather that was the issue. For some of us, the arts is the essence of life; the colorful side of living. It’s an integral part of life as breathing, don’t you agree? Now that the arts are gearing up for a new season, we’ve decided to compile a list of things to do that is a true mix of genres and activities. So if you only experienced one of each type of cultural thing to do in Palm Beach and surrounding counties, this is what we would recommend:

Musical

Ain't Too Proud - The Life And Times Of The Temptations

Who does not love a good musical?

Ain't Too Proud- The Life and Times of The Temptations’ is an energetic experience that shows the journey of The Temptations through the streets of Detroit, leading up to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The musical puts their signature dance moves on display paired with the harmonies that resulted in great success and influence in the development of the Motown sound. The musical is nominated for 12 Tony awards and touches upon family, loyalty, brotherhood, and betrayal themes.

The show runs April 26-29 at Kravis Center for the Performing

Drama

Ferocious Love

Ferocious Love is a must-have experience; fortunately, one can now experience it in Delray Beach. This spoken word drama focuses on an urban male coming of age in the late 1980s. The storyline follows the tension between the black single mother stereotypically deified by the black community and an uncle who is both demonized and glorified for the wrong reasons.

The drama touches on class disparity, broken or dysfunctional families, and political civil rights. Considering all the movements happening today, Ferocious Love is very time sensitive and a great power watch to understand struggles that we often shut a blind eye to.

Playing October 8, 2022, at the Arts Garage.

Opera

Cosi Fan Tutte

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous opera 'Cosi Fan Tutte' is performed in two acts. It is a story based on two romances - a romantic comedy that is not only a playful take on romance, but thought-provoking as well. It is an outlet for humor that provides insight into human nature. The short title, Così fan tutte, literally means "so do they all” and figuratively means "women are like that". The opera was first performed in 1790 at the Burgtheater in Vienna, Austria and will be at the Kravis Center in February 2023.

Art Fair

Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary Art Fair

Presented by Art Miami, the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair is winter's most important art fair. The exclusive invitation-only VIP preview benefits the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens.

At this fair, you will find world-class investment-quality art presented by internationally acclaimed galleries. The Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary Art Fair will coincide with the Palm Beach International Boat Show for a classic Palm Beach style weekend of yachting and art.

The show will take place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center March 23 - 26.

Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature

The Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature collection is an exhibition that will leave you mind-boggled. Joseph Stella is an American Modernist who is most famous for the nature of his paintings. His paintings are futuristic, and using the depiction of flowers, birds, and plants, he adds a spiritual connection to the natural world.

Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature is the first major museum exhibition to focus exclusively on his nature subjects and will feature over 90 paintings and works on paper drawn from other museums as well as private collections. The exhibition is to be organized in groups so the audience can understand the art displays in the best ways possible.
