Museums and Outdoor Attractions

A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery, Fort Pierce

Florida landscapes are the reason to visit the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery. The museum presents work by Fort Pierce painter A.E. "Bean" Backus, paintings by the original Florida Highwaymen and changing exhibitions by other artists. The Highwaymen were African American landscape painters whose work became closely associated with the region. Their paintings offer another way to see the Treasure Coast's skies, wetlands and palms, and to understand its artistic history.

Sunrise Theatre, Fort Pierce

For an evening in a historic theater, head to the Sunrise Theatre in downtown Fort Pierce.
