Ilya Itin, Leeds Gold Medalist — Season-Closing Piano Recital in Aventura

Ilya Itin, one of the festival's most beloved artists, closes the 2026–2027 Classical Sundays at Five season.

The artist

“Itin's is a rare and exciting artistry indeed… a prime example of a superb technique put at the service of an inquiring and imaginative mind” (Daily Telegraph). Since winning the Gold Medal, the BBC Audience Award and the Contemporary Music Prize at the 1996 Leeds International Piano Competition, he has performed worldwide with conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Neeme Järvi and Christoph von Dohnányi, and with the Cleveland Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic. His Princeton recital was named a “top ten musical moment of the year” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Lev Naumov, he teaches at the Musashino Academy in Tokyo and at the Miami International Piano Festival Academy.

Classical Sundays at Five is the festival's Sunday-afternoon recital series at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center: international pianists on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 pm.
