Opera Orlando makes company history with its first production of a Wagner opera, Flying Dutchman. This supernatural tale follows a sailor cursed to wander the seas for eternity unless he can find redemption through true and faithful love. Wagner’s sweeping score evokes violent storms, longing, obsession, and sacrifice in one of opera’s most powerful works.
Baritone Darren Drone stars in the title role with German soprano Johanna Will making her Company debut as Senta. Conducted by Geoffrey Loff and directed by Grant Preisser, this landmark production brings Wagner’s monumental music to Steinmetz Hall for the first time.
