Emerging Young Artists: Olivia Li, Seven-Year-Old Curtis Pianist, in Recital at UM Frost

Olivia Li, seven, from New York, began playing the piano at age four. In 2026, at seven, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studies with Ignat Solzhenitsyn and Michelle Cann, and she continues her studies with her longtime teacher Qi Zhang.

In August 2026 she made her concerto debut, performing the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 at the Manhattan School of Music. Her awards include the Grand Prize at the XVI Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford and at the Chicago International Music Competition, and she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall and the Salle Cortot in Paris.
