Bach + Brahms

Step into the world of Johannes Brahms with Brahms Revealed, a season-long celebration exploring the composer’s music, personality, and creative spirit.

Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann leads the orchestra, opening with Johann Sebastian Bach’s magnificent Orchestral Suite No. 3, music that inspired generations of composers, including Brahms. The mood then turns playful with Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture, a spirited work filled with student drinking songs that shows the composer’s lighter, mischievous side.

The centerpiece is Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by ASO Artist-in-Residence Anna Geniushene, an acclaimed pianist known for her expressive musicianship and powerful technique. One of Brahms’s most demanding works for piano, the concerto moves from grand and dramatic to tender and fiery, giving Geniushene a spectacular showcase.

A rich program of classical masterpieces, led by a distinguished conductor and featuring a brilliant solo pianist.
