Ariel Lanyi, Leeds Prizewinner and Prix Serdang Laureate — Piano Recital in Aventura

Born in Jerusalem in 1997 and based in London, Ariel Lanyi returns to the Miami International Piano Festival as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation.

The artist

In 2023 Lanyi received the Prix Serdang, the CHF 50,000 recognition awarded by Rudolf Buchbinder. He won third prize at the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition, playing Brahms' Second Concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in the final, and was a prizewinner at the Young Classical Artists Trust and Concert Artists Guild auditions. He has appeared with the Israel Philharmonic and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, at Wigmore Hall and the Frankfurt Alte Oper, and has collaborated with Maria João Pires. His Schubert album appeared on Linn Records. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and with Murray Perahia, Robert Levin and Leif Ove Andsnes.

Classical Sundays at Five is the festival's Sunday-afternoon recital series at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center: international pianists on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 pm.
