About This Event

Seven exhibiting artists continue the conversation around creative practice, lived experience, memory, identity, and what we carry.

The physical exhibition has closed, but the conversation continues.

Join What’s Your Elephant™ for a virtual artist talk featuring seven artists from What We Carry: A Community Art Exhibition & Dialogue, a community-centered exhibition that brought together 35 artists exploring what we inherit, what sustains us, what we survive, and what we are learning to carry differently.

Featured artists:

Carla Golembe

Carlisa McNee

DJ-Laoshi

Natalya Kochak

Zeb

Moisés Acebedo

Tony Brown

During this live conversation, the artists will share a little about their creative practices, the work they brought into What We Carry, what may live beneath what you first see in the artwork, and how art can help give language to some of what we carry.

Curated and produced by Niki Lopez and presented by What’s Your Elephant™, the original exhibition was on view August 21–September 10, 2026 at 1310 Gallery / Sailboat Bend Artists Lofts in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibition and its accompanying programs created space for visual art, storytelling, reflection, dialogue, movement, community connection, and the complexity of lived experience.
