During their respective medical careers, Drs. Joe and Sally Bauer also accrued expertise as marine biologists, scuba divers and diving historians. They passionately researched the evolution and history of man’s entry into the sea, emphasizing early milestones and technology prior to the development of scuba. Together they built and researched their extensive collection of historic diving gear over more than 40 years, opening the History of Diving Museum to the public in 2005.
Join Dr. Sally Bauer as she takes us through the challenges (and joys) of putting together a museum. Why would you do such a thing, and what did it take to get to the beginning of that first opening year? How were these rare artifacts acquired and displayed? Learn the answers to these questions and more with her presentation, which takes place on the Museum's 20th anniversary!
Immerse Yourself presentations are held on the third Wednesday of the month and are offered free of charge. The History of Diving Museum offers extended hours on Immerse Yourself nights, with the last admission ticket into the exhibits available at 6:45 PM.
Thank you to this month’s sponsors: the Draves family.
