Event Description
Main Street Players is proud to present its upcoming production of Medea, a daring contemporary adaptation by our New Artistic Director, Sara Jarrell Quevedo, the classic tragedy by Euripides, reimagined for today’s hyper-visible, social-media-driven world.
In this contemporary retelling, Medea is a famous “Trad Wife” influencer whose carefully curated online life begins to unravel after a public betrayal. Set against the backdrop of internet fame, sponsorships, and performative domesticity, the production explores how image, power, and validation collide in a world where private pain becomes public spectacle.
One of the most influential works in classical theater, Medea has been reinterpreted for centuries. This version brings urgent relevance to its timeless themes of love, exile, gender roles, and revenge by placing them within contemporary digital culture. The result is a provocative examination of how ancient emotional truths manifest through modern systems of visibility, control, and surveillance.
