Seen / Heard: The Space Between Artist and Audience

Seen / Heard is a new community conversation series that explores the relationship between artists, artworks, and audiences through thoughtful discussion and shared perspectives. Sparked by a recent act of defacement in Jason Lazarus' exhibition underseers, this inaugural event invites the community to engage in a meaningful conversation about artistic intent, interpretation, context, and respectful dialogue.

Moderated by DFAC Curator Danny Olda, the panel features exhibiting artist Jason Lazarus and Dr. Nashid Madyun, Executive Director of Florida Humanities. Together, they'll discuss how contemporary art creates space for multiple viewpoints while honoring the artist's vision—and how disagreement can lead to deeper understanding instead of division.

Guests are encouraged to explore underseers before or after the discussion and contribute to the exhibition's interactive component by sharing their own reflections. Admission is free, but seating is limited, and advance registration is encouraged.
