Soloist: Andrés Cárdenes is a world-renowned, Grammy-nominated violin player and conductor, with a career spanning well over 40 years. Since earning the Second Prize in the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition, Cárdenes has performed with hundreds of orchestras on four continents. He has served as President of the Jury of the Stradivarius International Violin Competition and was on the jury of the 2011 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor of Violin Studies at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music.
