Event Description
Very few musical artists achieve a true signature style, but guitarist Eric Johnson arguably comes as close to this echelon as any musician from the past quarter century. Like fellow Lone Star State guitarists Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnson blends the rock style of Jimi Hendrix and the blues power of Albert King. His wide array of additional influences (from the Beatles and Jeff Beck to jazz and Chet Atkins) makes for a guitar sound as unique as his fingerprints.
Johnson leapt to the forefront of contemporary music 20 years ago with his certified platinum plus album “Ah Via Musicom,” launching his career with his signature hit “Cliffs of Dover,” and won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. What followed was a diverse and fascinating musical journey that inspired The New Age Music Guide to rave that "Eric Johnson plays guitar the way Michelangelo painted ceilings: with a colorful vibrancy that's more real than life."
