Join Frost Science during Winter Camp for a new, Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program that invites middle school students to gain leadership skills, learn about various science disciplines, and create a scientific resource or community action project under the guidance of a mentor.
CITs will explore their interests in science, build their resumes, become young leaders in STEM, gain community service hours, and receive a recommendation letter for their time as a CIT.
The CIT program will consist of two tracks:
Science Education Track: With the assistance of a mentor, CITs will develop a science-based activity for Frost Science campers, aligning to the theme of the week. At the end of the week, CIT’s will lead and facilitate the activity they developed to a group of campers. This opportunity is one week long and will be offered each week.
Environmental Action Track: With the assistance of a mentor, CITs will develop an action-based solution to an environmental issue, aligning to the week’s theme. At the end of the program, CITs will have developed and begun an action-based project, such as planning a tree planting event or creating a plastic-free initiative guide for their school. This program is two weeks long and will be offered in cohorts.
