
The greatest porcelain piece ever created by Lladró of Spain will be unveiled at the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.
Carnival in Venice is the centerpiece of the new Carnival & Cabaret exhibit at WMODA, which runs from January 18 – March 31, 2018.
With Carnival time approaching, the latest exhibit curated by Louise Irvine explores the flamboyant festivals in Venice, Rio and New Orleans as seen by porcelain artists from Europe. Discover how Harlequin and Columbine and other characters from the Italian Commedia dell’Arte have influenced carnival fun, the art of clowning and masquerade balls through the ages.
Masquerade parties were particularly popular during the roaring ‘20s to disguise the flirtatious behavior of the flappers. Cabaret and variety shows in early 20th century Paris and Berlin also reveled in the theatrical excesses of carnival costumes.
It’s Museum Selfie Day on January 17th so the opening night party at WMODA is the perfect opportunity to take selfies in the most spectacular setting #museumselfieday.
