Event Description
Women & Men Voices is a compelling performance program presented by Peter London Global Dance Company that celebrates the creative life force, storytelling, and the exploration of lived experience through artistic expression and gender within society’s social and cultural constructs.
The program features original works by three of the company’s distinguished women dancers — Stephanie Franco, Mar'Kayla Michel, and Kayin Knighton — each offering powerful perspectives that illuminate identity, voice, and embodiment.
Artistic Director Peter London presents a striking new work for six men that explores emotional intensity with unapologetic force. In this piece, conventional notions of beauty are dismantled, revealing an electrifying expression of male vitality — what Martha Graham once described as “divine ugliness.” Even in its distorted and visceral form, the body’s divine beauty remains undeniable.
The program also includes A Folk’s Tale by Jamar Roberts, a powerful and deeply resonant work reflecting the African American experience. The evening concludes with London’s vibrant Caribbean street fête, Caribbean Suite, set to music by renowned and award-winning jazz trumpeter and composer Etienne Charles — an exhilarating and high-spirited finale.
