This summer, the Sanger Gallery transforms into a working studio and showcase for local painter Samuel Alvarez. Explore more than 40 of his vibrant works—from expressive portraits to luminous Florida Keys landscapes—and, if you’re lucky, catch him painting right in the gallery. Every piece is available for purchase, making this a rare chance to take home a work fresh from the artist’s hand.
Alvarez, who was born to British and Spanish parents, trained at the renowned Barcelona Academy of Art. His style blends classical technique with a modern touch. He paints both in the studio and outdoors, chasing that perfect light and capturing the mood of a moment. Now living in Key West with his wife, he finds daily inspiration in the island’s color, light, and laid-back spirit. His latest collection is a love letter to all of it—mixing old-world craft with tropical energy.
