Peyton Evans Artist in Residence (PEAR) Aaron Cobbett shares his love and knowledge of textiles in a class that takes tie-dyeing to an entirely new level. Shibori is an ancient dyeing technique originating in Japan, dating back to the 8th century. Traditionally utilizing indigo dye, the process encompasses different ways of folding and binding fabric to create resists. The resulting patterns can be seen as stand-alone masterpieces, or can be incorporated into larger designs. Cobbett honors the past but brings a contemporary take to the practice.
