Discover the creative possibilities of reduction linocut in this immersive 6-week Tuesday class designed for intermediate, advanced, and professional printmakers.
From the very first session, you’ll dive into the intricacies of reduction techniques—working with a single linoleum block to build layered color, carved textures, and painterly effects using oil-based inks. Each week features guided demonstrations that lead into hands-on exploration, giving you the opportunity to refine your carving, strengthen your design approach, and develop advanced registration skills using pin-and-tab systems and the etching press. As you work, you’ll deepen your understanding of planning, sequencing, and technique, allowing your prints to grow in complexity and expressive impact. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a series of original reduction prints and the confidence to continue advancing your relief printmaking practice.
*Please note: This is not a beginner class and requires prior printmaking and drawing experience. Ages 17 and up.
