Every painter has a palette knife in their case, but most think of it only as a tool. Palette knives can be used for more than scraping and mixing paint though. Swapping out a brush for a knife allows an artist to create new textures and bold strokes on the canvas. Popular instructor Mike Rooney takes students through the ins and outs of turning a simple tool into the perfect instrument for creating dramatic paintings.
