Discover the intricate art of Mayan back-strap weaving in this immersive 6-week Monday class open to all levels. From the very first session, you’ll learn to warp thread, set up your loom, and weave a small table runner featuring traditional Mayan designs.
Each week combines step-by-step instruction with hands-on practice, giving you the opportunity to explore color, pattern, and technique while creating functional, wearable, or decorative pieces. As you work, you’ll develop precision, patience, and a deeper appreciation for this portable and ancient craft.
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a completed woven piece and the confidence to continue exploring back-strap weaving on your own.
*Please note: Ages 17 and up. This art form requires bending over a loom for extended periods.
