Discover the art of back-strap weaving in this immersive 6-week Monday class for all levels.
From the first session, you’ll learn to warp threads, set up a loom, and weave a small table runner featuring traditional Mayan designs. Each week combines guided demonstrations with hands-on practice, giving you the opportunity to explore color, pattern, and technique while creating scarves, placemats, shawls, and more. All necessary materials—including thread, loom, needle, back-strap, and cord—are included. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with unique woven pieces and the confidence to continue exploring this portable and expressive art form.
*Please note: This art form requires students to bend over a loom for extended periods. Ages 17 and up.
