Event Description
Discover the creative possibilities of clay handbuilding in this immersive 6-week Tuesday class designed for beginner artists eager to explore foundational ceramic techniques.
From the very first session, you’ll dive into the essentials—learning how to work with coils, slabs, extruder forms, and hump and slump molds as you build confidence with each new method. Each week features guided demonstrations that lead into hands-on projects, giving you the opportunity to create functional pieces like plates, bowls, mugs, and lidded containers, as well as expressive decorative forms. As you work, you’ll also explore surface design through underglaze and studio glazes, along with special firing techniques such as Raku and Obvara. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a collection of original hand built pieces and the skills to continue your ceramics journey beyond the studio.
