Glass in Flight Closing/Labor Day Weekend
August 30, 31 &, September 1, 2025
9:30am – 4:30pm

It’s your last weekend to catch a glimpse of GLASS IN FLIGHT which will be leaving Flamingo Gardens after September 1st! This traveling exhibition includes 21 hand-fashioned, welded steel sculptures including butterflies, bees, dragonflies, beetles, and a bird! Designed specifically for outdoor display, the works are crafted from hand-cut and hand-faceted Dalle de Verre glass set into powder-coated steel frames. The Dalle de Verre glass is thick and durable and glows in sunlight with a beautiful intensity. Each was painstakingly conceived, designed, cut, assembled, and welded together by the artist ALEX HEVERI herself. Light filtering through the glass amplifies the saturated colors and iridescence of the insect wings, intensifying the illusion of movement and flight.

Glass in Flight Closing/Labor Day Weekend Activities:
• Live entertainment with music by Michael Kennedy from 11:30am-2:30pm
• Flamingo Gardens’ Kids’ Corner 11am – 3pm
• Make and Take a craft with staff from the Young at Art Museum (YAA) 10am – 3pm (Saturday Only)
• Plants for sale by H&H Bamboo
• Last chance for Girl Scouts to earn their GS Love the Outdoors Challenge Patch 10am-4pm (must register prior to arrival, based on availability)

Admission:
• $24.00 for ages 12+
• $17.00 for ages 3-11
• Flamingo Gardens members, SF Adventure Pass holders, & children 2 or younger are free.
• Gardens’ Hours are 9:30am – 5pm. Last admission sold at 4pm.
