Under the direction of artistic visionary Rhiannon Giddens, Silkroad Ensemble’s latest project, American Railroad, reimagines the history of the railroad through the lens of music. This initiative juxtaposes Chinese traditional sounds of the suona and pipa with the fiddle and banjo rooted in Black musical traditions, alongside Indigenous and Celtic influences.
