Telephone
Sat 02/04/2023
Join us for a viewing of this screen dance documentary, the first of its kind, featuring diverse disabled and non-disabled artists who have come together to prove that: dance is visceral, not merely visual.
Telephone, co-directed by choreographer/filmmaker Heather Shaw and Dark Room Ballet Founder Krishna Washburn, is a disability arts film project, transforming the world’s perspective on accessibility and allowing the full inclusion of blind and visually impaired people while simultaneously educating audience members about audio description as an art form; creating a new paradigm of anti-ableist artistic expression.
Join us to experience this forty-five-minute film, followed by a hybrid Zoom/live talkback with Telephone co-directors Krishna Washburn and Heather Shaw. The conversation will center around accessible art, creative choreographic/filmmaking methodologies, and the future of anti-ableism in the arts, generating thought-provoking inquiries and reflection.
