“Dia de los Muertos 2” Art Show at Atelier de Sosi Gallery

The exhibition is curated by local artists Danyell Bauer and Mark Noll. The show of fine art features imaginative pieces inspired by Dia de los Muertos from around the state, 28 artists created more than 70 pieces in glass, fiber, metal and wood and paint on canvas. There are also 68 Sugar skulls decorated by local artists which all started from the same wooden base with each artist creating a unique piece of art based on that. 50 smaller sugar skulls were decorated by local children. It will be on exhibit through October 30th.The show’s judges are Audrie Cuddy Ranon, WADA Director of Operations, and Jorge Vidal, Independent Curator at the Museum of Fine Arts and Anna Glenn, MS, Art Educator.Atelier de SoSi is located at 2380 6th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33712. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Viewers can get up close and personal with handmade, limited-edition artists’ books and gain an in-depth view of how artists working in varied media take on the challenge of manifesting their concepts and visual language into a book form.Existent Books is a semi-annual publishing initiative established in 2015, which brings artists to IS Projects to experience fine art printmaking, letterpress printing and fine book binding. These artists then design an artists’ book that IS Projects’ staff produces by hand, taking inspiration from all the techniques that the studio has come to offer: screen printing, relief, intaglio, letterpress, foil stamping, die-cutting, pop-ups, and more. The exhibit will be in place when Fairgrounds St. Pete opens later this spring. The Fairgrounds St. Pete Community Room is an initiative to highlight local arts and community organizations. Through a series of temporary exhibitions and programming, the space offers organizations an opportunity within Fairgrounds St. Pete to educate the public about their good works.
