One of the most requested works in the choral-orchestral repertoire, Fauré’s Requiem is a tender, heartwarming response to human suffering and grief. Reverent and uplifting, the work paints a picture of paradise and the joy of eternal rest.
The Requiem will be preceded by Joshua Rist’s powerful Invictus and followed by Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words of the Unarmed, an emotional contemporary work based on the final words of Black Americans killed by authorities, and Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, a profound expression of grief.
