Sew Organ | A Sound SculptureFri 5/11 - Wed 7/4
Come to Young At Art this summer and find out what a sculpture sounds like! Duane Brant, a South Florida based artists known for making unique and fun sculptures is displaying sixteen “Interactive acoustical sound machines.” During this exhibition the audience is invited to play these instruments that combine vintage sewing machines with shellacked wooden acoustic forms, all having links to organs, cellos or old radios. Each sewing machine has its own exclusive tone that is distorted by the volume and shape of the wood forms. Since this instrument has been recently invented, no one has yet to master the range of possibilities. So whether you are a fan of music, art, fashion or just having fun, Sew Organ is the place for you to sound off and explore the relationship between a symphony and a factory!
