Lowe Connects: A Virtual Discussion: The Mastery of Arnold Newman
Wed 06/28/2023
Please join us for a virtual program celebrating the Mastery of Arnold Newman. Two of the regions' academic museums have concurrent exhibitions featuring photographic portraits by Arnold Newman. They are Arnold Newman: A Retrospective at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU and Expressions of Self: Arnold Newman's Artist Portraits in Context at the Lowe Art Museum at University of Miami. Curators Caitlin Swindell from the Lowe, and Jacqueline Goldstein from the Jewish Museum of Florida, will discuss Newman's impact on the world of photography and how their exhibitions speak to his legacy.
Expression of Self: Arnold Newman’s Artist Portraits in Context was made possible by the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation. Additional funding was provided by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts; the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade Mayor and Board of County Commissioners; the City of Coral Gables; Beaux Arts Miami; and Lowe members.
