 “Our Fund believes that success for arts and culture agencies in the post-pandemic environment will be defined by their ability to pivot and cater to audience’s anticipated expectations around safety and social distancing that will be foreseen remnants of the pandemic for several years,” says Our Fund President & CEO David Jobin. He continues, “priority in grant consideration will be given to agencies whose goal is not just return to normal – but return to a new normal that builds on new capabilities developed in the initial months of the pandemic.” Grants from the Arts & Culture fund will support costs incurred by organizations related to safety protocol, reduced audience size, increase in number of performances, costs associated with supporting virtual and live performances, and enhanced marketing.  “Our Fund is not seeking to support new projects – but instead is interested in supporting new operating costs associated with developing …

Local nonprofit arts and organizations are encouraged to apply, online, for one of three tiered program-specific category grants awarding up to $15,000. For the first time, FAB is also offering Education Grants dedicated to art appreciation and skill acquisition for grades K-12. Eligible organizations may apply for both a Visual and Performing Arts Grant and an Education Grant. The free, online event will feature performances by the orchestra’s talented musicians; a live, fine art auction facilitated by well-known auctioneer, Janice Hamilton; and a chance to [virtually] meet some of the featured artists. A silent auction will also debut on November 19, remaining live through the conclusion of the December 3 event. Proceeds from the auctions will help keep the heart of The Symphonia – its educational programs, community outreach and, of course, its music – beating, while highlighting and benefiting local artists. In addition to several regional artists whose works will be featured, The Gallery Lounge by Salvatore Principe and other local galleries have partnered with The Symphonia to auction a number of works by local and regional artists from their collections. The mission for the Arts Proud campaign is to sustain the arts within South Florida’s LGBTQ community and create a springboard for the non-profit agencies to restART and flourish post-pandemic.  Earlier this summer, Our Fund formed a coalition of LGBTQ cultural institutions such as the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida, Island City Stage, Miami Gay Men's Chorus, OUTshine Film Festival, South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble, Thinking Cap Theatre, Thou Art Woman, and the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus which has essentially served as a South Florida LGBTQ arts collective and support group. The agencies meet virtually on a regular basis to combine efforts, share and pool resources, and recently began to explore opportunities to reduce costs by leveraging scale and realizing joint savings as a means to preserve financial resources.  “The Arts Proud campaign name succinctly encapsulates what we are trying to accomplish – safeguarding the diverse LGBTQ arts and …

Their biggest fundraising event of the year, Chefs for Kids’ Cancer Gala in New York City, was postponed due to COVID-19. Using video as the virtual stage, 20 Miami-based performing artists will each be awarded $1,000 to create new works of dance, music, theater, spoken word and other performing arts that capture our community’s unique voice and experience during this unprecedented crisis. The new video works will be showcased on the Arsht Center’s website and promoted across the Center’s social media platforms and in the Arsht@Home e-newsletter.Details for the video proposals, submission criteria and other guidelines are at arshtcenter.org/heart-art-submission. Artists working across all genres of the performing arts are encouraged to apply, including music, theater, dance, spoken word, monologues or multi-genre combinations.
