SMDCAC PRESENTS INDIE FLICKS: PICTURE CHARACTER

March 14th through the 17th

In "Picture Character," directors Martha Shane and Ian Cheney lead viewers on a deep dive into the ever-evolving world of emojis, Japanese for “picture character,” from their humble beginnings in Japan to mobile keyboards across the world. They shed fresh light on the private consortium that approves new emoji offerings and the individuals fighting to make the language more representative of its billions of users. NSU ART MUSEUM: THE WORLD OF ANNA SUI

Through October 3rd

With over 100 looks, The World of Anna Sui explores the glamorous and eclectic world of one of New York’s most beloved and accomplished designers, and invites viewers to step inside Sui’s imagination to discover her creative process and the diverse influences that contribute to her signature aesthetic sensibility. More event details here.

HISTORY OF DIVING MUSEUM: ART OF THE ABYSS

Through March 17th

Travel to the deepest ocean depths with this new exhibit that combines art, abyssal science and history. Discover creative depictions of the deep sea by the Art Guild of the Purple Isles & local school students. Learn about the quests to explore unfathomable places and what technologies they used to get there. More event details here.

BROWARD CENTER: THE BRONX WANDERERS

March 14th at 5:30 pm

Buckle your seat belts and travel back in time to the high-octane sounds of '50s, '60s and '70s rock 'n roll when the Bronx Wanderers deliver a high-energy performance of classics that inspired American Graffiti, Happy Days and A Bronx Tale. Together, they recreate the magic of an era that will have you toe-tapping, hand-clapping and dancing in your socially distanced pod all night long. More event details here.

MARTHA/MARY CONCERTS: STARBURST CONCERT

March 13th at 7:00 pm

Their annual event presenting young artists about to “burst” onto the scene. Hear them now, then follow their careers. This year MMC introduces two amazingly talented artists with major international experience. Baritone Thandolwethu Mamba from Eswatini in Southern Africa came to University of Miami's Frost School of Music via Duke University where he graduated with its two highest awards. Award-winning violinist Sophia Molina is concertmaster at New World School for the Arts, and attended Heifetz International Music Institute. More event details here.
