Come see an exhibition showcasing images of the historically Bahamian community of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables captured by volunteer photographers at the 2024 Goombay Festival and during a neighborhood photo walk in January 2025. The opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, June 1 at 1 p.m. at Sanctuary of the Arts - St. Mary Campus (136 Frow Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33133).

This exhibit is the outcome of a 2024 Community Collections Grant from the American Folklife Center of the U.S. Library of Congress awarded to the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab at Florida International University. It reflects a shared commitment to honoring the history and cultural contributions of Bahamian and Black communities, many of whom played an instrumental role in building Coral Gables during its early years.
